Letter from the Principal March 27, 2009 Dear Parents, Dr. Ron Valenti, the superintendent
of schools for the Archdiocese of Baltimore, scheduled a visit to the school on March 18th.
I was happy to welcome him here as I am so proud of the children, teachers, and school
staff. Dr. Valenti arrived in the morning and toured the school in the company of two
eighth grade students. He visited the classrooms and spoke to the children, who were
enthusiastic and eager to tell him about their classes and the school. Their faces were
beaming as they told him about their daily activities and all the special events taking
place. When he got to the first grade, the children had created a little presentation to
greet him. Our first graders had a basket full of cards made by our students and some St.
Jane treats that we thought he would enjoy. Dr. Valenti took so much time with
the children that he stayed almost an entire school day. He was very interested in all
they were doing, and spoke to each teacher about their teaching and classes. After the
tour and visits to classrooms, Dr. Valenti and I had a nice conversation about our
wonderful school. Sometimes, as principal, I am the recipient of many good messages about
St. Jane and I wanted to share this one with all of you. Here is what Dr. Valenti wrote. I cannot thank you enough for
the warm reception extended to me on my March 18th visit to St. Jane Frances.
One only has to walk through the doors to feel that you are in a loving place. The entire
community of faculty, students and staff has such a demonstrable loyalty to their school.
It was a joy to be in their presence. It truly is life giving to be in a school that has
so much going on and is so exuberant. The students are absolutely marvelous, very
engaging, very friendly and you can tell that they love their school. Isnt this true? I see this
every single day I am here. Your children reflect the upbringing they have had from caring
parents, grandparents and families. I am so proud of them as they are polite, well
mannered, positive, and always eager to learn and do their best. They are taught and
nurtured by the capable and caring teachers and staff. And, as a principal with lots of
energy and vision for our school, I am pleased that we reflect exuberance and activity.
The children have tremendous potential and we continue to do our best to give them a
comprehensive Catholic education of the highest quality. Thank you for sharing the gifts
of your children with us. We will continue to move forward with energy and enthusiasm. Sincerely, Michelle M. Jones Principal
