UNIFORM GUIDELINES
As the first teachers of your children, kindly guide and check them as they dress for school each day. All students begin wearing uniforms the first day of school. Those who cannot be in complete uniform must have a written, signed, dated note from his or her parent. We expect full daily compliance with our uniform policy. For example: fad jewelry, fad hairstyles, dyed hair and hair pieces are not part of uniform dress for both genders. NO dangling earrings are allowed. NO earrings above the ear lobe, no tatoos or body piercing. Students are allowed to wear only one earring per ear. Boys are not allowed to wear earrings. Only necklaces with medals or crosses are allowed to be worn outside or inside a students shirt or blouse. No make-up is acceptable. No dark or printed tee shirts under blouses/shirts are allowed. (White Only). Students never wear short shorts. No fingernail polish, fake nails or fake nail tips. No designer contact lenses. No hats worn in the building.
Out of Uniform Days: Shirts should not be longer than shorts; shorts must reach fingertips when placed by student's side; no tank tops, halter tops, or see-through tops; no ragged edges on shorts or pants. No camouflage pants, shirts or jackets. No flip flops. No sandals - students should wear tennis shoes or school shoes. No tattoos. Out of uniform dress must be approved by the administration or follow the designated theme.
Girls may wear (1) pair of post earrings on the bottom of the earlobe.
Boys should have standard, regular haircuts. No coloring allowed. No hair may be longer than the top of the collar. Hair must be above the eyebrows and not to hang over the ears. No extreme, fad styles; no part of the head is to be shaved, full or partial.
Dress Uniform
All year or winter uniform (October 19 - March 31)
Girls: First to Fifth Grade Jumper; peter-pan collared blouse (long or short sleeved). Jumpers are to reach the top of the kneecap. Optional yellow or kelly green logo SJF turtleneck, purchased from Flynn & OHara Uniform Company, may be worn with the jumper. Navy blue vests, navy blue sweaters, or SJF sweatshirts, purchased from Flynn & O'Hara Uniform Company, may be worn in the classrooms - no jackets.
Girls: Sixth to Eighth Grade Skirts (1" pleat or kick pleat). As an option, 6th-8th grade girls may wear skorts purchased from Flynn and O'Hara. During cold weather (December - February) girls may wear navy blue dress pants under their skirt (no sweatpants or pajama pants) to school. Green polo shirt for 6th grade; white banded or green polo shirt for 7th and 8th grade. (All incoming 6th grade girls will wear green SJF logo polo shirts for summer, winter and physical education uniform. White SJF banded logo shirts should not be purchased or worn in the 6th grade. All incoming 7th and 8th graders may continue to wear white or have the option to purchase green SJF polo shirts for summer, winter, and physical education uniform.) NO MAKE-UP acceptable. Young ladies must wear appropriate undergarments (i.e., white slip or camisole). Skirts must reach the top of the kneecap. Optional yellow logo SJF turtleneck purchased from Flynn & OHara Uniform Company. Navy blue vests, navy blue sweaters, or SJF sweatshirts, purchased from Flynn & O'Hara Uniform Company, may be worn in the classrooms - no jackets.
Boys: First Grade Polyester navy blue uniform dress pants; SJF logo green knit shirt with collar (purchased from Flynn & OHara); no tie. Navy blue vests, navy blue sweaters, or SJF sweatshirts, purchased from Flynn & O'Hara, may be worn in classrooms - no jackets.
Boys: Second to Eighth Grade Polyester navy blue uniform dress pants; long or short sleeved dress shirt (oxford or permanent press); navy blue tie - purchased at school. Belt (brown or black) with pants. Navy blue vests, navy blue sweaters, or SJF sweatshirts, purchased from Flynn & O'Hara, may be worn in classrooms - no jackets.
Pre K and Kindergarten Students: Green SJF logo shirt, navy blue pants, navy blue dress shorts, sneakers with or without laces, white crew socks. NO belts, NO skorts, NO skirts. Optional: SJF logo sweatpants and SJF logo athletic gym shorts.
Optional Summer Uniform (August 31 - October 16; April 12 to the end of school)
Girls and Boys: First to Fifth Grade - Navy blue uniform shorts (girls shorts have cuff and small change pocket); green SJF logo knit shirt. Brown or black belt is worn with shorts. (Boys and girls). Dress shoes are worn with summer uniform.
Girls and Boys: Sixth to Eighth Grade - Navy blue uniform shorts (girls shorts have cuff and small change pocket); white SJF logo knit shirt. Brown or black belt is worn with shorts. (Boys and girls). Dress shoes are worn with summer uniform.
Pre-K and Kindergarten: Blue shorts and SJF logo polo shirt.
Uniform Shoes: Pre-K and K: Sturdy, soft-soled, athletic-type shoes; buckle, snap, zipper, and velcro allowed.
Grades 1-8: must wear tan Buc tie shoes.
Uniforms for Physical Education Class
(worn to school on P.E. days only)
For Boys and Girls:
Summer Uniform: August 31 - October 16; April 12 to the end of school
*SJF Logo Golf Shirts with SJF logo shorts.
Winter Uniform: October 19 - March 31
*SJF Logo sweat suits with Logo golf shirts under the sweatshirt.
With summer and winter uniform:
*Plain white socks - Socks must come over ankles. Sport socks, ankle socks, footies, or other socks that do not come above the top of the ankle are not permitted. Navy blue knee highs are encouraged for girls. Navy blue tights may be worn.
*Tennis shoes (laced); no slip on tennis shoes; no heelys. White shoelaces or shoelaces that match the color of the shoe are acceptable.
We encourage following the uniform for P.E. dates; however, parental discretion is permitted.
IF A STUDENT RECEIVES THREE UNIFORM VIOLATIONS DURING THE FIRST OR SECOND SEMESTER, A CONDUCT REFERRAL WILL OCCUR WITH THE NEXT VIOLATION. IF UNIFORM VIOLATIONS CONTINUE, STUDENTS WILL BE REFERRED TO THE OFFICE FOR FURTHER DISCIPLINE.
