Catholic High School Math Olympiad

On Saturday, October 25th, a group of our junior high students traveled to Catholic High in Baltimore to compete in a math competition. We took four teams with four young ladies on each team (2 eighth grade teams, 1 seventh grade team and 1 sixth grade team). There were a total of 152 contestants totaling 38 teams at the competition. Our eighth grade teams finished in 5th and 11th place! This is a phenomenal effort on the part of our students.

In addition, the following students finished in the Top 30 out of the total 152 contestants during the individual competition: Sarah Hines, Megan Lynch, Rebecca Miller and Samantha Sullivan. Each of these students received a letter from the President of Catholic High congratulating them on the accomplishment. St. Jane would like to thank these young ladies for representing our school so well.

We would like to thank all of the pre-primary and primary teachers for their past efforts with these students in helping build a solid math foundation. We would also like to thank Mrs. Cluney for getting her eighth algebra class off to a good start. Finally, a special thank you to Mrs. Cox, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Spicher who deserve much of the credit for the success of our junior high students this year.
